MARIO KART

MALFUNCTION!

Screen grab of a crashed Mario Kart on the SNES. Looks even more mental than Rainbow Road if you ask me.

STAR WARS:

UNCUT

I've submitted my entry for the fan-made remake of the original Star Wars film. Its called Star Wars:Uncut and has some hilarious and talented entries so far. Fans get to remake a 15 second segment and they all get patched together when its all done.

Looking forward to seeing the whole film in a different way once the project is completed.

Heres the trailer:

Interesting new Internet application makes the most of the new Kanye Meme by pointing out what the best website of all time is. Loving it right now.

H.A.V.E vs TF2

NEWFAGS CANT TRIFORCE

A new Korean game called H.A.V.E designed by the apparently very unimaginative games developer Triforce Studio is somewhat the same as the very popular online shooter Team Fortress 2. After watching the trailer I found this video showing a few similarities:

Team Fortress Classic is one of the best games ever, and Team Fortress 2 has been in development for 10 years. Funny how all of a sudden there are now 3 TF style games all at once...

Triforce Studio are denying anything to do with Team Fortresss 2.
Make your own mind up.

PLAY ME

I'M YOURS

Found in Queen Square Bristol. Couldn't tell wether it was an advert or a promotional stunt or an art installation. Kinda love that ambiguity.

VINCENT VAN GOGH MAP

FOR COUNTERSTRIKE

Looks pretty amazing. There is a lot of work went into that one. This guy is the reverse of me-taking paintings and turning them into a half-life map. This really reminded me of a Van Gogh short film I saw a few years ago on TG4 in the middle of the night. Its part of Dreams by Akira Kurosawa. Funnily enough, Martin Scorsese plays the part of Vincent.

The action kicks off around half way in.

BANKSY BRISTOL

VIA GOOGLE STREET VIEW

I spent sunday in Bristol and didn't get to see the big Banksy exhibition. I'm not the world's biggest Banksy fan but I did feel guilty missing it as it looked like a wicked exhibition. So this post is purely out of guilt.

I'm loving Google Street View recently. I reckon it adds a dimension of accessibility to Banksy's work. Someone can view his little graffiti punch-lines in their natural habitat from anywhere in the world and with a new level of interactivity. Sure as hell beats buying a printed canvas of his work in a shit commercial gallery.

Enjoy!

GOOGLE APOCALYPSE

STREET VIEW LENS FLARE AWESOME

Some excellent images from Google Maps Street View. Due to the nature of patching together several photographs employed by the software I found that the lens flare would start and stop in unusual places. Kinda gives it an eerie atom bomb exploding feel with a rocket trail and everything. Enjoy.

SPAM EMAIL AMAZING

Great little jpg I got in the mail today. Thought I should share it as its worth a giggle. I especially like the crudeness of the willies and the randomness of the background. Just think: someone had to actually sit down and actually draw this...

Enjoy!

Today BBC iPlayer crashed in a beautiful kaleidoscope of colours reminiscent of late 80s home computing errors. I love it.

WAYFARING

STRANGER

I will be exhibiting as part of a new group exhibition in Dublin's Stone Gallery entitled Wayfaring.

Mary A Fitzgerald: drawn, Carborundum, Etching, Drypoint

Exhibition runs from March 27- April 25. I would be very happy to hear some feedback from this one if anyone gets to see it I think the curators have done an excellent job working within the themes. I will be exhibiting Outpost IV (Bridge) which is one of my favorites. Here is a clip from the game if you want to see where it comes from:

More information and exact location can be found on the gallery website:

PICTURE

OF THE DAY

I fell in love with the rainbow.

It was impossible to find the pot of gold at the end because it was a 2D sprite and it would change location depending on where the camera was positioned. Im a sucker for this kind of kitsch.

ART SCAMBAITING

AMAZINGNESS

I have come across a number of scammers in the past, in fact I had a separate email address when I was required to input my details which I used to tease the old email scammers (King of Spain, Prince of Nigeria and so forth...), but recently my interest in Scambaiting has been rekindled upon discovering a number of people who have done it much better than me.

See, I'm sure we have all got an email from someone claiming they will send you a million quid if you only give them your bank details and passwords. For me they usually end up in the junk folder, but there are people who follow them up and tease them with the promise of paying and get them to send all kinds of amazing junk.

My favorite one was when a scammer contacted a guy pretending to own a graphic design business in Africa. Instead of merely deleting the email the victim replied saying he was part of a fine art dealership and could offer him a 30k scholarship based on his work. Long story short he makes the scammer paint two paintings for him (one of his cat and one of a C64 game box).

I think I really like the art as well. Maybe I'll have a go at getting one myself...

Read the full story here. There is also a few more tales on the website, including one ending up with a very crudely made Laurel and Hardy woodcarving.
